A-JCHS FBLA set to bring Harlem Wizards to area
<p class="p1">The Harlem Wizards are scheduled to pay a visit to Anna-Jonesboro Community High School on Oct. 20.</p><p class="p1">The Wizards will be playing a game against the A-J All Stars.</p><p class="p1">Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. The game will be played in the Union Hall gymnasium at A-JCHS. </p><p class="p1">General admission prices for the event are $10 a ticket in advance or $14 at the door. </p><p class="p1">Reserved seats are also available for $15 in advance and $18 at the door. </p><p class="p1">There are a limited number of courtside plus tickets for $30, which includes food, meet and greet with the Wizards, a Wizard lanyard and badge and a Wizards poster. </p><p class="p1">Tickets can be purchased at A-JCHS or from A-J FBLA members, at the main branch of Anna-Jonesboro National Bank, at A-J Motors (both locations), and are available online at www.harlemwizards.com.</p><p class="p1">There will be concessions for sale, as well as raffle tickets for a chance to win cash and prizes. </p><p class="p1">The Wizards will play the A-J All-Stars, a team composed of teachers, coaches, alumni and other community members. </p><p class="p1">Proceeds go to the A-J FBLA, the March of Dimes and the A-J scholarship fund. The event is being organized by A-JCHS FBLA members. </p><p class="p1"><strong>Who are the Harlem Wizards?</strong></p><p class="p1">The organization was started over 50 years ago by New York Sports promoter Howie Davis.</p><p class="p1">He envisioned a show and organization that would put a different spin on show basketball. The Wizards are a show basketball entity delivering successful fundraiser events for schools and nonprofits, last season alone playing in over 400 communities across the USA, while raising over $2 million dollars for various organizations and schools.</p><p class="p1">The Wizards have three units that crisscross the USA, with Eric “Broadway” Jones, and Dwayne “Swoop” Simpson, both former Globetrotter showmen, as well as the dynamic duo of David “DP” Paul and “King Arthur” Lewis a former Academic All-American at Bowie State University.</p><p class="p1">The experienced roster includes Arnold “A-Train” Bernard, an accomplished trickster and a veteran of seven years with the Globetrotters.</p>
