A-JCHS cheerleaders earn awards at summer camp

The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School cheerleaders attended National Cheerleaders Association, NCA, summer camp at Southern Illinois University.

The squad is coached by Angie Hargrave. Paula Keller is assistant coach.

Members of the squad are Katie Mosby, Mahala Prater, Sydne Miller, Julia Hayward, Taylor Tripp, Tarah Kunkel, Hailey Hicks, Jeni Keller, Caley Palmer, Kelsie Bonner, Miranda Baggott and Jocelyn Frey.

NCA selects award winners at each of the 1,000 camps it administers around the world each summer.

The A-JCHS cheerleaders received the following honors:

•A Herkie TEAM Award, which is awarded to squads which exemplify the qualities upon which the NCA was founded: leadership, values and teamwork.

• ASpirit Stick award, which was voted on by all teams and presented to the squad showing the most sincere spirit and enthusiasm throughout the entire week at camp.

•A national championship bid, which exemplified the team with the best technical skill and cheerleading technique.

The bid was extended to teams to compete at the NCA Senior and Junior High School National Championship or the NCA All-Star National Championship.

Both championships are held in Dallas, Texas.
