Jay "JB" Carl Hooker

<p class="p1">Jay "JB" Carl Hooker, 64, of Anna, and formerly of Goreville, died at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.</p><p class="p1">He was born on May 21, 2951, in Rosiclaire, the son of William and Velma Brown Hooker.</p><p class="p1">He married Cherry Gambrell on June 14, 1983. She preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2014.</p><p class="p1">He owned and operated A-1 Mechanical (HVAC) in Goreville. He was a volunteer with the City of Goreville, working to make the 4th of July and Christmas seasons a special time for his town. He loved being on a boat, motorcycles, cars and pretty much anything with wheels, and he loved to attend auctions. He was a member of the Shriners in Marion.</p><p class="p1">Survivors include his sister, Linda (George) Stearns of Anna; brothers Bill (Linda) Hooker of Herrin and Don (Becky) Hooker of Carbondale; nephews Randy (Erica) Stearns of Anna, Seth Sterns of Groton, Massachusetts, Adam (Candace) Stearns of Makanda, Jonathan (Amber) Hooker of O'Fallon, Abram Hooker of Elgin and Nathan Hooker of Elgin; nieces Elizabeth (Troy) Hooker of Herrin, Ashley (Jeff) Hooker of Carterville and Rachel Hooker of Herrin; many great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.</p><p class="p1">He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cherry Hooker; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.</p><p class="p1">As per his wishes, he was cremated.</p><p class="p1">Graveside memorial services will be at a later date at the IOOF Cemetery in Golconda.</p><p class="p1">Memorials can be made to Shriners (ShrinersHospitals.org/Donate) and will be accepted at Crain Funeral Home, 135 W.
