James L. Womick

James L. Womick, 69, of Hurst, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at 5:31 p.m. at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 3, 1944, the son of William and Helen Jones Womick in Anna.

He married Rosaria Colletti on April 14, 1973. She preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 1996. He then married Dana Rice on Dec. 28, 1997.

He owned and operated A & J Freight then Red Ball Trucking Company for many years. Most recently he managed the worker's compensation division of Womick Law Firm. He liked rabbit hunting, family gatherings and home improvement projects.

He is survived by his wife, Dana Womick of Hurst; daughter, Janet Womick; son, Jim F. Womick; son, Jerry "Bear" Womick and wife, Lisa; son, Joe Womick and wife, Linda; son, Austin Rice; son, Evan Rice; brother, Jack Womick and wife, A.R.; brother, John Womick and wife, Jane; sister, Debra Tanner, and husband, Ruane; 11 grandchildren, Brandon, Dustin, Haley, Hunter, Phoenix, Robi, Macey, Kristyn, Taylor, Braelyn and Blake; mothers-in-law, Mary Colletti and Carolyn Sue Rice; many other nieces, nephews and other special relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Womick.

Funeral services for Mr. Womick were Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Murdale Baptist Church with the Revs. Douglas Rice and Paul Hicks officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made to the Hope Lodge and/or the American Cancer Society, Esophageal Cancer Research.
