James Brown
James Brown, 80, of Anna, died at 1:09PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the home of his daughter.
He was born on February 4, 1932 in Cypress the son of Henry Gideon and Bertha Jane (Fain) Brown. He married Doris Jean Cox on February 20, 1952. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2009.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Christian Church of Anna. He retired from the United States Penitentiary at Marion.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Brenda (Gary) Phillips of Anna and Wilma (Bob) Wagner of Shiloh, IL; 3 grandchildren, D.J. and Jessie Phillips and Amanda Marie Wagner; sister-in-law, Lucille Dallas of Anna; brother-in-law, Cletus Riley of Karnak; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 3 brothers, Edward, Clemon and Clyde Brown; 4 sisters, Hazel Davis, Mary Karraker, Dorothy Kupferer and Glenna Riley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 5-8PM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11AM at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro with Bill Littrell, R.W. McAlister and Dee Armes officiating. Interment and military honors will follow in the Anna City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
