Pitchers Rachel Hayden and Lindsey Patterson combined on a two-hitter to lead Anna-Jonesboro to a 6-0 win over Carmi-White County for the Class 2A Pinckneyville sectional championship in high school softball action Saturday, May 30.

Hayden pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 hits to go with 7 strikeouts and a walk.

Patterson pitched 2 innings and didn’t give up a hit to go with 2 strikeouts and no walks.

Mahala Prater was 3-for-4 with 2 stolen bases and an RBI to lead the hitting attack.

Kylee Lence was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Hayden was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and a double.

Jordan Edwards was 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Hillary Abernathy was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Patterson and Fallon Clayton were each 1-for-4.

A-J, which improved to 27-4, advanced to the Edwardsville supersectional.
