A-J softball team wins tournament in Kentucky

Lindsey Patterson had a two-run home run in the top of the 7th inning to lift Anna-Jonesboro to a 10-9 win over host Lone Oak, Ky., to win the championship of the Lady Flash Invitational high school softball tournament Saturday, March 27.

The Lady Wildcats shut out Lone Oak in the bottom of the 7th inning to preserve the win.

Trailing 8-5, in the 6th inning, A-J’s Mackenzie Housman knotted the game on a three-run home run. Lone Oak bounced back in its half of the frame to go ahead 9-8 to set up the final inning heroics.

Rachel Hayden was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs to lead the hitting attack. Patterson was 3-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Chandra Parr was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI. Jayda Rendleman was 2-for-4 with a stolen base.

Housman was 1-for-1 with a three-run home run. Becky Lohstroh was 1-for-2. Katelynn Brush was 1-for-3 with a double. Mahala Prater was 1-for-5 with 5 RBIs. Fallon Clayton was 1-for-5.

Hayden was the winning pitcher with 6 2/3 innings pitched. She allowed 5 hits to go with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks. Hayden pitched the first 4 1/3 innings and returned to pitch the final 2 1/3 inning and allowed 4 hits to go with a walk.

A-J 9, Murphysboro 1: Patterson was the winning pitcher with a three-hitter to go with 3 strikeouts and a walk in another Saturday win.

Parr was the leading hitter by going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Prater was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jordan Edwards was 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Hayden was 1-for-4 with 2 stolen bases and 2 RBIs. Clayton was 1-for-4.

A-J 12, St. Mary’s 0: Hayden and Amanda Conaway combined to pitch a one-hitter Saturday. Hayden pitched 4 innings and allowed a hit to go with 4 strikeouts and no walks. Conaway pitched an inning and recorded one strikeout.

Edwards was 2-for-3 with 2 stolen bases and an RBI. Rendleman was 2-for-3. Hayden was 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs.

Brooke Chamness was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Lohstroh was 1-for-1. Parr was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and 2 RBIs. Brush was 1-for-2. Clayton was 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Patterson was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

A-J 3, Livingston Central 2: Brush was 2-for-3 to lead the hitting attack Saturday.

Parr was 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Rendleman and Hayden were each 1-for-3 with an RBI apiece. Lohstroh and Patterson were each 1-for-3.

Hayden and Patterson combined on a 4 hitter. Hayden pitched 3 innings and allowed 2 hits to go with 2 strikeouts and a walk. Patterson pitched 3 innings and allowed a pair of hits to go with 3 strikeouts and no walks.

A-J 6, St. Mary’s 0: Brush was 2-for-2 with a triple and 3 RBIs to lead the hitting attack Saturday.

Prater was 2-for-3 with 3 stolen bases. Patterson was 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Hayden was 1-for-3 with a double, stolen base and an RBI.

Patterson and Conaway combined on a two-hitter. Patterson pitched 4 innings and allowed 2 hits to go with 9 strikeouts and no walks. Conaway pitched an inning and had a strikeout.

A-J 10, Lone Oak 1: Prater was 2-for-2 with a triple, stolen base and 2 RBIs to lead A-J in the late game Friday, March 26.

Rendleman was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Hayden was 1-for-2 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Clayton was 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs.

Hayden was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits to go with 3 strikeouts and a walk.

A-J 9, Todd County 0: Patterson tossed a one-hitter in the opening game of the tourney Friday. She had 7 strikeouts and no walks.

Rendleman was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs to lead the hitting.

Clayton was 2-for-3 with a home run, stolen base and 3 RBIs. Patterson was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Prater was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and 2 RBIs. Parr was 1-for-1 with a stolen base. Hayden was 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI.

A-J, 10-1, is scheduled to play  Thursday at home against Herrin.
