A-J softball team falls to top-ranked Carterville

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School softball team lost 13-0 to Carterville in the Vienna Class 2A regional tournament Saturday, May 23.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Carterville, 32-1, is the state’s top Class 2A rated team.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Two Lady Lion pitchers limited the Lady Wildcats to only two hits. Haley Inman and Reagan Morrison were each 1-for-2 to lead A-J.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Mackenzie Carter and Britni Helton pitched in the loss, combining to scatter 10 hits.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>A-J 6, Johnston City 5:</strong> Carter had a three-run home run to lead the Lady Wildcats to the regional win Thursday, May 21.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Carter finished 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Madi Bigler was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Mackenzie Conway was 2-for-4. Morrison, Payton Alsip and Katy King were each 1-for-3.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Carter was the winning pitcher, scattering 9 hits to go with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">A-J finishes the season at 7-19 overall. </span></p>
