A-J soccer team earns second at invitational in Harrisburg

The Anna-Jonesboro High School girls’ soccer team finished with 3 wins and a tie to finish in second place at the 2nd annual Harrisburg Invitational Saturday, April 17.

“A-J has now secured their best season record to date at 5-7-2,” A-J coach Michael Mibb stated.

“They’ve had the most goals scored at 27, the least allowed at 20 and the most shutouts at four in their six-year history.”

A-J’s Samantha Coleman and Cortni Hicks were named to the all-tournament team.

Following are invitational results:

A-J 4, Olney 0: Katie McIntyre, Ashley Kendrick, Cortni Hicks and Timbre Craig scored a goal apiece to lead the Lady Wildcats in their final game win Saturday, April 17.

Samantha Coleman, Ashley Conner and McIntyre each added an assist.

Valarie Pender played 35 minutes in goal and had 2 saves. Danyell Hale played the final 45 minutes in goal.

  A-J 3, Harrisburg 0: Coleman, Taylor Carstens and Katie Grant had a goal apiece to lead A-J to the win Saturday.

Grant had an assist and Hicks had two.

Goalkeeper Pender had one save.

A-J 9, Salem 0: Ashton Crews and Allison Conner scored two goals apiece to lead the Lady Wildcats in their first win on Saturday.

McIntyre, Hicks, Sarah Franklin-Searby, Kendrick and Craig added a goal apiece.

Grant had a pair of assists and Conner, Carstens and Craig each added an assist.

Kendrick played the first half in goal and Pender the second half and recorded one save.

A-J 1, Mount Vernon 1: Kendrick had the lone goal for A-J in the opening game Friday, April 16.

Goalkeeper Hale recorded one save.

A-J is scheduled to play today, Thursday, at home against Mount Vernon.
