A-J players on SIFL fall season baseball team

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Several members from the Anna-Jonesboro Community High School baseball team are playing in the Southern Illinois Fall League, SIFL, this fall and the team swept a doubleheader at Johnston City Sunday, Aug. 23.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>A-J 11, Johnston City 0:</strong> Isaac Pender was 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs to lead A-J to the opening game win.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Bryce Osman was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Brayden Benefield was 2-for-2. Noah Smith was 1-for-2. Collin Prather and Conner Jerolds were each 1-for-3 with an RBI apiece. Garrett Goines was 1-for-3.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Blake Klett was the winning pitcher with a two-hitter. He recorded six strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>A-J 2, Nashville 1:</strong> Pitchers Prather and Hunter Ralls combined on a five-hitter in a doubleheader sweep.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Prather pitched 5 innings and recorded five strikeouts. Ralls pitched the final two innings and had three strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Pender was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs to lead the hitting. Prather was 2-for-3.  Osman and Klett were each 1-for-3.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"> A-J, 5-1, is scheduled to play Sunday, Aug. 30, at Rend Lake Community College near Ina in a doubleheader against Elverado and Vienna.</span></p>
