A-J falls twice in recent action
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Du Quoin and Pinckneyille posted wins over Anna-Jonesboro in recent high school boys’ basketball action.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Du Quoin 47, A-J 43:</strong> The visiting Wildcats let a first quarter lead slip away in the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Mississippi Division loss Saturday, Feb. 13.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Wildcats had a chance to tie the game with 18 seconds remaining, but missed a pair of free throws.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Indians were fouled after that and made a pair of free throws to seal the win.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"> Dakota Earnhart had 15 points and 4 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Ryan Stark added 10 points and 4 rebounds. Jake Parr had 9 points and 6 rebounds. Sheldon McGrath had 6 points and 2 rebounds. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Collin Prather had 2 points. Hunter Garver had a point and 3 rebounds. Jake Stark had 2 rebounds. Garrett Nimmo had a rebound.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Wildcats were 12 of 32 in shot attempts from the floor, 3 of 17 from 3-point range and 5 of 10 from the free throw line.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Indians were 6 of 23 in shot attempts from the floor, 7 of 21 from 3-point range and 9 of 12 from the charity stripe.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Pinckneyville 65, A-J 49:</strong> The host Wildcats fell behind early in the conference loss Friday, Feb. 12.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Parr led A-J’s scoring with 14 points and a rebound.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">McGrath added 8 points and 2 rebounds. Garver had 8 points. Ryan Stark had 7 points and 4 rebounds. Earnhart had 5 points and a rebound. Nimmo had 5 points. Wyatt Smith had 2 points and a rebound.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Wildcats were 12 of 26 in shot attempts from the floor, 4 of 11 from 3-point range and 13 of 16 from the free throw line.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Panthers were 18 of 25 in shot attempts from the floor, 7 of 21 from 3-point range and 9 of 10 from the charity stripe.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">A-J, 15-13 overall and 2-7 in the conference, closes out regular season play Friday at home on senior night against conference foe Sparta.</span></p>
