A-J boys’ track team second at invitational

The Anna-Jonesboro High School boys’ track team recorded four first place finishes to take second place in the Wildcats’ Invitational Wednesday, April 14.

First place efforts for A-J were recorded by Jordan Adams in the 800-meter run n 2:09.54; J.R. Woodward in the 400-meter dash in 53.76; Louis Denny in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.86 and the 300-meter hurdles in 45.25.

Murphysboro won the 8-team meet with 193 points. The Wildcats finished second with 116.

Second place efforts for the Wildcats were Brandon Crosser in the pole vault with 9-6; Caleb Mixen in the 1600-meter run in 5:11.37; Dalton Junker in the 200-meter dash in 22.22; 3200-meter relay team of Jesse Webb, Mixen, Adams and Denny in 8:45.37; and the 800-meter relay team of Skylar Benefield, Brett Turner, Aaron Smithey and Dalton Junker in 1:36.09.

Fourth place efforts for A-J were the 400 relay team of Benefield, Turner, Smithey and Junker in 47.82; Turner in the discus with 113-7 1/2; Junker in the 100 in 11.18; and Andrew McMahan in the 400 in 58.10.
