A-J boy’s track team third at Carbondale

The Anna-Jonesboro High School boy’s track team finished in third place in the Carbondale Invitational Thursday, April 8.

Carbondale won with 88 points, followed by Du Quoin with 70 and A-J 28.

The Wildcats recorded three first place finishes: the 3200-meter relay team of Jordan Adams, Jesse Webb, Caleb Mixen and Louis Denny with a 9:18.6; Adams in the 800-meter run in 2:15.3; and Dalton Yunker in the 200-meter dash in 23.6.

Mixen had a second place finish in the 1600-meter run in 5:22.

Third place efforts for the Wildcats were recorded by the 400-meter relay team of Adam Bennett, Aaron Smithey, Skylar Benefield and Yunker in 48.2; the 800-meter relay team of Bennett, Smith, Benefield and Yunker in 1:38.7; Denny in the 300-meter hurdles in 47.5; Smithey in the 200-meter dash in 25.5; and the 1600-meter relay team of Jesse Webb, Adams, Benefield and Brett Turner in 3:48.7.
