Injuries reported in accident

Illinois State Police responded to a two-car crash on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at approximately 3:19 p.m. The accident occurred on State Route 3 just north of McClure in Alexander County.  

A southbound white 2009 Hyundai Accent, driven by Kristen M. Skelton, 22, of McClure, was stopped, attempting to turn west onto Bridge Street.  

A red 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Donald C. Brimm, 59, of Anna, which also was southbound, struck the rear of the Hyundai. 

Brimm was taken by Alexander County EMS to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The occupants of the Hyundai refused treatment at the scene, state police reported.

All of the occupants in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. 

State police reported that Brimm was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
