Hunter safety course set Aug. 21-22 in Anna
Area residents will have an opportunity to learn basic principles of safe hunting at an Illinois Department of Natural Resources hunter safety course scheduled in Anna.
The course is planned Friday and Saturday, Aug. 21-22, at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 315 South St. in Anna.
Hours are from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Students are required to attend both classes.
To register, call the Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative at 618-827-3555.
For more information about the course, contact instructor LaRue Parr at 827-4113 after 4 p.m.
A 1996 state law requires that all hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1980, successfully complete the hunter education course before they can receive their first hunting license.
Participants who complete the hunter education course receive a hunter education certification card verifying that they have passed the course of instruction.
Those who plan to hunt out of Illinois are advised that the certification card will probably be required in order to hunt.
