High school softball regionals set next week

Union County high schools are scheduled to play next week in regional softball tournaments which will take place in Cobden and Vienna.

Cobden regional

Cobden, Dongola and Shawnee are scheduled to play in the Appleknocker Class 1A high school softball regional, which is set May 18-23.

Early round tournament games are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Monday, May 18, Meridian plays Egyptian and Dongola goes against Century.

Tuesday, May 19, Cobden plays the winner of Meridian-Egyptian.

Wednesday, May 20, Shawnee takes on the winner of Dongola-Century.

The championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23.

Vienna regional

Anna-Jonesboro plays in the Vienna Class 2A regional May 18-23.

Monday, May 18, Massac County plays Harrisburg.

Tuesday, May 19, Carterville goes against the winner of Massac County-Harrisburg.

Wednesday, May 20, A-J hosts Vienna.

The championship is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23.
