High school baseball regionals set in area

Union County high school baseball teams are scheduled to play in regional tournament action next week.

Goreville regional

Cobden, Dongola and Shawnee are scheduled to play in the Class 1A high school baseball regionals  May 18-23.

Cobden is scheduled to play in the Goreville regional.

All games through the week are scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Monday, May 18, Chester plays at Trico and Elverado travels to Cobden.

Wednesday, May 20, Goreville plays the winner of Chester-Trico game.

Thursday, May 21, Crab Orchard plays the winner of Elverado-Cobden game.

The championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Goreville.

Shawnee regional

Monday, May 18, Dongola is at Egyptian and Cairo goes against Century.

Wednesday, May 20, Shawnee plays the winner of the Dongola-Egyptian game.

Thursday, May 21, Meridian plays the winner of the Cairo-Century game.

The championship is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23.

Carterville regional

Anna-Jonesboro is scheduled to play in the Carterville Class 2A regional.

Monday, May 18, Vienna plays Massac County.

Wednesday, May 20, Harrisburg plays the winner of the Vienna-Massac County game.

Thursday, May 21, host Carterville plays A-J.

The winners of Wednesday and Thursday games play in the championship at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Carterville.
