Harold Bernard Vaughn

Harold Bernard Vaughn, 86, of Makanda, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 in the Marion V.A. Medical Center. He was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Anna, the son of Charles A. and Minnie Norris Vaughn. He married Carmen M. Miller on May 15, 1949 in Piggott, Arkanas. She preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2000. He later married Norma L. Laminack.
He is survived by his wife Norma L. Laminack of Anna; son Douglas Vaughn of Memphis, Tennessee; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Carbondale. He was retired from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale as a manager in central receiving. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was stationed in Korea as a rifle squad leader with the 6th Infantry Division. Harold was a member and past commander of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and was a member of the American Legion Post #514 in Carbondale.
Memorial services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Interment was in the St. John's Cemetery in Dongola. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion.
