Gordon A. Hopp
Mr. Gordon A. Hopp, age 67 of Anna, died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born September 2, 1945 in Elgin, the son of Floyd and Elizabeth Hadder Hopp. He married Linda Vines on May 6, 1967 at the Kornthal Church in Jonesboro.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hopp of Anna; one daughter, Chelle (Larry) Telfair of Paducah, KY; one son, Matthew Hopp and fiancé Astasia Moses of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Nathan Bryan Telfair, Kaylyn Marie Gayle Telfair, and Logan Allen Hopp; four brothers, Larry (Bonnie) Hopp, Wes (Wanda) Hopp, Jim (Pam) Hopp, Floyd (Linda) Hopp; five sisters, Ginny (Davis) Brunes, Sally (Al) Hemming, Pat Mangum, Karen (Dick) Daniels, Donna (Bill) Sanko; brother and sister in laws, Donald (Bonnie) Vines, Virginia Adams, Lloyd (Cindy) Vines, Jim (Shirley) Vines, Barney (Joyce) Barnhart; nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Bryan A. Hopp.
Gordon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna, The American Legion and the Anna Kiwanis. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Gordon was a dedicated and passionate Police Officer for the City of Anna for twenty five years, and later he served as the Chief of Police for twelve years before his retirement in 2005.
Funeral services for Mr. Gordon A. Hopp will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Bobby Richardson officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery in Lick Creek. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County D.A.R.E. program. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
