Former Alto Pass area man sentenced for meth production
Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds reported Nov. 7 that John A. Gleghorn, 56, formerly of 3200 Bald Knob Rd. in rural Alto Pass, has been sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one count of unlawful participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, a Class X felony.
Gleghorn was convicted of the charge in April following a trial which lasted two and a half days.
Under state law, Gleghorn must serve at least 75 percent of the 20-year sentence.
Gleghorn, acting together with Billy J. Finney, 37, engaged in the manufacture of methamphetamine at a residence at 3200 Bald Knob Rd. in February, March and April of 2012.
Gleghorn and Finney were indicted by a Union County grand jury in May 2012 following an investigation by the Union County Sheriff's Office, the Murphysboro Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
The Illinois State Police methamphetamine response team also assisted with the investigation.
Finney pleaded guilty in December 2012.
