Floyd Lynn “Cotton” Petty

Mr. Floyd Lynn “Cotton” Petty, age 86 of Anna, formerly of Joliet, died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born June 3, 1927 in Carbondale, the son of Elmer and Essie Kendall Petty. He married Mary Marie Swafford on March 7, 1953 in Cobden. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1995.

         Floyd is survived by his three children, Gary Lynn Petty of Mesa, Arizona, Floyd Lee Petty of Tacoma, Washington, and Nancy Kay Dibala  of Lexington, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Dawn (Frank) Kasper of Joliet, Illinois, Amber Petty of Brooklyn, New York, Micaela Petty of Lynnwood, Washington, Haley Petty of Tacoma, Washington and Emma Dibala of Lexington, Kentucky; two great grandchildren, Kyle Kasper and Kelsey Kasper both of Joliet, Illinois; one sister, Ruth Cushman of Pasadena, Texas; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Petty; four sisters and three brothers.

         Floyd proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna.

         Funeral services for Mr. Floyd Lynn “Cotton” Petty will be at 1pm on Friday, December 20, 2013 in the Rendleman & HilemanFuneral Home in Cobden. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am to 1pm on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.  The preferred form of remembrance would be memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or Anna V.F.W. Post #3455. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
