Filing set to begin for 2014 primary
Candidates can begin filing nominating petitions for the 2014 Union County primary election Monday morning, Nov. 25.
The primary election is set for March 18, 2014.
Nominating petitions are filed in the Union County clerk's office. The clerk's office is located in the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
Filing continues through Dec. 2.
The first day for candidates to circulate nominating petitions was Sept. 3.
Four county offices will be on the ballot in 2014. Those offices include sheriff, county clerk, county treasurer and one, six-year position on the five-member Union County Board of Commissioners.
Incumbents currently holding office include Union County Sheriff David Livesay, Union County Clerk Terry Bartruff, Union County Treasurer Darren Bailey and Union County Commissioner Don Denny.
Livesay and Bartuff are Democrats. Bailey and Denny are Republicans.
Livesay previously announced that he would not be seeking reelection as sheriff. Bailey previously announced that he plans to seek reelection.
