Earl Miles Jr.

<p class="p1">Earl Miles Jr., 91, of Collinsville, and formerly of Anna, died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at his residence in Collinsville.</p><p class="p1">He was born on Sunday, April 8, 1923, in Dongola, the son of Earl Miles Sr. and Verda Osman Miles.</p><p class="p1">He married Virginia "Ginny" Brimm on Aug. 10, 1947.</p><p class="p1">Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Miles of Collinsville; a son, Douglas Earl Miles of Collinsville; a daughter, Cynthia Alice Hewitt of Collinsville; a sister, Glenna Cochran of Collinsville; a brother, Bob Miles of Wildwood, Missouri; three granddaughters, Gretchen (Dan) Hund of Highland, Kristen Miles of Collinsville and Katie Miles of Collinsville; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Ketchie of North Charleston, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Trent, Savannah and Lucas Hund; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p class="p1">He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dean Miles; and a sister, Maldetta Hinkle.</p><p class="p1">He retired as a service manager and salesman from the St. Louis office of  Unisys. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville. He was a faithful member of Collinsville Noontime Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge in Dongola, Ainad Shrine, American Legion Post No. 365 in Collinsville, and the Elks Club in Centralia and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.</p><p class="p1">Services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, with the Rev. Greg Pratt officiating.
