Dorothy Ellen Dexter

<p class="p1">Dorothy Ellen Dexter, 88, of Ullin, died at 9:09 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.</p><p class="p1">She was born on Oct. 26, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Edward Regis and Sophia Ellen Gooseman Chambon.</p><p class="p1">She married Paul James Dexter on Aug. 19, 1947. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1997.</p><p class="p1">She was a registered nurse at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She enjoyed quilting and was a Sunday School teacher and member of Cross Road United Methodist Church.</p><p class="p1">She is survived by her children, Leon (Debra) Dexter of Ullin, Susan (Bruce) Gillespie of O'Fallon, Lois (Neil) West of Cypress and Darrel Dexter of Jonesboro; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Dexter of Groton, Connecticut; sisters-in-law, Lois (Al) Dial of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Carol Jean Adams of Ullin and Helen Dexter of Ullin; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.</p><p class="p1">She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons James E. Dexter and Charles E. Dexter; and a brother, Edward Chambon Jr.</p><p class="p1">Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Cross Road United Methodist Church in Ullin, with the Rev. Cecil Atchison officiating.
