Dongola softball wins fourth straight regional

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Kerisha Lannom was 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs to lead Dongola to a 7-0 win over Century for its fourth consecutive Class 1A regional high school softball title Saturday, May 23.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">“For a little school like this to go out winning a regional is really good,” Dongola softball coach Barry Keller said. “The kids will always remember it.”</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Kyeli Flores was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Karlie Kelley was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kerah Cooley was 1-for-4.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Megan Micheal was the winning pitcher, scattering 7 hits to go with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Dongola 20, Cairo 1:</strong> Micheal fired a one-hitter to lead the Lady Demons to the first-round regional win Thursday, May 21. She had no walks and 10 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Lannon, Mackenzie Prout, Micheal, Kelley and Courtney Rankin were each 2-for-2 to lead the hitting attack. Logan Wood, Cassondra Gorst and Flores were each 1-for-2.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Dongola, 16-9, was scheduled to play Galatia earlier this week in the Goreville Class 1A Sectional Tournament.</span></p>
