Dongola girls defeat Egyptian

Victoria Shirkey scored 13 points to lead Dongola  to a 42-33 win over host Egyptian in South Egyptian Conference high school girls’ basketball action Thursday, Jan. 3.

Brittany Hinkle addded 8 points for the Lady Demons. Stephanie Shepard, Breanna Newman and Reba Robinson each scored 7 points.

Dongola led 10-6 after the first quarter and 22-16 at halftime. The Lady Demons led 30-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

Century 52, Dongola 26: The visiting Lady Centurions pulled ahead early in the win Monday, Jan. 7.

Century led 11-7 after the first quarter and 28-10 at halftime.

Robinson scored 12 points to lead the Lady Demons. Newman added 7 points, Shirkey 3 and Hinkle and Shepard 2 each.

Dongola, 2-11, is scheduled to play host Meridian at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Martin Luther King Tournament.
