Dongola girl’s basketball looks for improvement
The Dongola High School girl’s basketball team had three wins last season.
Lady Demon coach Preston Hall would like to see that number increase this season.
“I’m looking for six or seven wins,” Hall said. “We’re definitely going to be better than last year. We’re already ahead of last year’s team.”
Hall expects to build a successful program around four returning starters.
The foursome includes a pair of juniors in Jody Schultz, a 5-6 guard, and Dominique Schauer, a 5-5 forward; and sophomores Michela Penrod, a 5-4 guard, and Emily Terbrak, a 6-1 center.
There are no seniors on the squad.
Others expected to contribute are junior Chelsea Moore, a 5-6 forward, and sophmores Becky Holt, a 5-10 forward and Joanne Smith, a 5-6 forward.
Freshmen who could be see action are Haley Fuller, a 5-4 guard, and Katie Lathan, a 5-5 guard.
The Lady Demons open their season this week in the Lady Bobcat tournament at Meridian.
