Dillow leads A-J to 47-43 victory over Du Quion

Destiny Dillow scored 11 points to lead Anna-Jonesboro to a 47-43 win over visiting Du Quoin in Southern Illinois River-to-River Mississippi Division Conference high school girls’ basketball Thursday, Feb. 4.

It was Senior Night and the final regular season game for the Lady Wildcats.

In the final quarter, A-J’s Destiny Dillow and Valerie Pender sealed the win by closing out the scoring going 3 of 4 from the free throw line.

Jessi Stone had 10 points for the Lady Wildcats. Chandra Parr added 9 points, Rachel Hayden 8, Emma Basler 6 and Valerie Pender 3.

A-J led 13-6 after one quarter and 26-19 at the half. The Lady Wildcats were ahead 35-34 going into the final quarter and outscored the Lady Indians 12-9 down the stretch to pull out the win.

A-J, which closed out conference play at 4-6 and 10-16 overall, play this week in the Class 2A regional tournament at Murphysboro.
