Deloris A. Wilson
Deloris A. Wilson, 76, of rural Vienna, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at 4:18 p.m. at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on March 7, 1933, in Union County, the daughter of William R. Powles and Mary Lorene Allen Powles.
She married Jack E. Wilson in 1952 in Alton. He survives.
Other survivors include her children, Keith E. and Becky Wilson of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Vickie A. and Michael Adams of Evansville, Ind., Michael E. and Maria Wilson of Tunnel Hill, and Mary B. Wilson of Vienna; 16 grandchildren, Kipp A. Wilson, Kimberly and Adam Shoemaker, Brock Ackmann, Brandy Adams, Heather and Jeremy Wharton, Keith and Lorin Wilson Jr., Christina and Bradley Peace, Jamie and Ray Simmerson, Jennifer and Allen Burrows, Shelley and Donnie Johnson, Wendy and Lou Maennche, Billy and Teresa Baker, Cindy and Jeff Vancleve, Michelle and William Martin, Brandie and Shane Layhew, and Bryan Baker; 38 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Ray Powles of Tamms and Frank Powles of Jonesboro; three sisters, Louise Thompson of Mill Creek, Fern Thompson of Dongola and Imogene Lynn of Mill Creek; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
She was a 1950 graduate of Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. She had been employed as an aide at various area nursing homes, as well as working as a cook at the Vienna Grade School. For a number of years, she was the housekeeping supervisor at the Silver Saddle Resort in California City, Calif.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Buncombe.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She liked camping, reading and quilting. She liked the music of Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline and Conway Twitty.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. The Rev. Jim Shipley officiated.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Buncombe.
