Dee Ray Johnson

Dee Ray Johnson, 83, of Anna, died Friday morning, May 23, 2014, at the home of his daughter, Kelly Needler, in Bluford.

Mr. Johnson was born on Nov. 22, 1930, in Bartlesville, Okla., the son of Issac Johnson and Maude Annable Johnson.

He married Devonna Brown in 1949 in Arkansas. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1993.

Survivors include his children, Kelly (William) Needler of Bluford, Larry (Marie) Johnson of Elgin, Jason (Jackie) Johnson of Anna and Greg (Janice) Johnson of Elgin; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice (Jack) Martin of Tulsa, Okla.; and a dear friend, Anna Diordi of Karnak.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Gwen Johnson; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Leota (Jake) Mathis, Dorothy (Bill) Wolfe and Ruth (Jack) Searight; an infant brother and an infant sister.

He was employed as a mental health technician at the Anna State Hospital and later at the Elgin Hospital. He also worked as the government shipping supervisor at Simpson Electric Co. in Elgin.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 26, at noon at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Larry Moreau officiated. Burial was in the Cypress Masonic Cemetery.
