Creston L. Musgraves, Sr.

Creston L. Musgraves Sr., 82, of Grand Tower passed away at 12:15 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2009 at his daughter’s residence in Simpson, IL.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the Meredith Funeral Chapel in Grand Tower, IL with Rev. Peggy Camp officiating. Interment will be at Walker Hill Cemetery, Grand Tower.  Friends can call from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Meredith Funeral Chapel, Grand Tower. 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or VNA Tip Hospice and will be accepted by the funeral home.

Creston was born at Wolf Lake on Monday, June 6, 1927 to Clifford Raymond and Annie Mae (Brasel) Musgraves.  He was united in marriage to Elsie Lois Buffington on August  27, 1946 at Hammond Ind.  She passed away on  August 9, 1971.  Then he married Rosemary Masters on January 8, 1972 at Grand Tower.  She passed away on February 20        1990.

He retired as a custodian from the Shawnee High School at Wolf Lake in 1989 after 20 years of service.  He was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie and Ron McBride of Simpson, Karen Sickling of Shepherdsville, KY, Marian Jewel Musgraves of Grand Tower, IL, and Christina and Kenneth Mehrle of Jonesburg, MO; three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Robert Musgraves of Mt. Vernon, Cyrus and Debbie Musgraves of Grand Chain, and Creston L. and Linda Musgraves, Jr. of Paducah, KY; 17 grandchildren.; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William ‘Bill’ and Mary Musgraves of Decatur, Curtis ‘Elzo’ and Virginia Musgraves of Crossville, and Russell and Donna Musgraves of Decatur;  five stepdaughters; two stepsons; a close family friend, Ray Caperton of Forest, MS.; his beloved dogs, Honey, Scrappy, and Snow; and many other friends and relatives.
