County plans to dismiss lawsuit against state
<p class="p1">Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds this week shared an update on legal action which had been taken by the county against the State of Illinois.</p><p class="p1">The county filed suit in December against the State of Illinois seeking payment of salary reimbursement by the state to the county. </p><p class="p1">The funds are paid by the state to the county on a monthly basis to offset the county’s cost in employing the state’s attorney, public defender and supervisor of assessments. </p><p class="p1">The state had failed to pay these reimbursements since July 2015. </p><p class="p1">Edmonds said that as of last week, the state had paid the county $87,646 to cover the period of July 2015 through December 2015 and is now “caught up” with payments to the county. </p><p class="p1">"As a result we are filing paperwork this week to dismiss the lawsuit," Edmonds reported.</p><p class="p2"> </p>
