Community forum

Last Thursday evening, Shawnee Community College hosted a community forum at Stinson Memorial Library in Anna. The Anna event was one of five such forums being hosted by the college.

Nearly 20 people attended the community forum in Anna, which was hosted by Dr. Tim Bellamey, the president of Shawnee Community College. He was joined by several of the college's staff members at the event.

Community members and students were among those who attended the Anna event. Several of those who spoke at the forum praised the work being done by the college.

Shawnee Community College is an extremely valuable resource. Without a doubt, the college plays a critical role in educating and encouraging the future leaders of our community.

We thank Shawnee Community College and its staff for hosting events such as the community forum in Anna. We also commend the college for the positive role it plays in our community.

<strong>Civil War Weekend</strong>

Congratulations to all of those who were involved in presenting the Civil War Weekend in Anna. The weekend's wide range of activities were held last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Civil War Weekend was a joint effort of the PAST organization of Union County and the Shawnee Hills Arts Council.

The weekend featured exhibits, music, guest speakers and other activities – all of which shared a unique perspective of the Civil War.

It is extremely important that we remember the history of our nation and our community. The Civil War Weekend helped to achieve that goal.
