Cobden wins consolation title at Sesser-Valier
<p class="p1">Parker Flamm scored 26 points to boost Cobden to a 60-49 win over Century in the consolation championship at the Sesser-Valier Holiday boys’ high school basketball tournament Tuesday, Dec. 30.</p><p class="p1">Austin Lewey added 16 points for the Appleknockers. Logan Spalt, who had a pair of 3-pointers, finished with 8 points. J.T. Moore added 6 points, John Russell 3 and Sam Cohen 1.</p><p class="p1">Cobden led 13-11 after one quarter and 28-21 at the half. </p><p class="p1">The Appleknockers held a 37-30 lead going into the final period.</p><p class="p1"><strong>Cobden 34, Marissa-Coulterville 28:</strong> Flamm scored 10 points to lead Cobden to the tourney win earlier on Tuesday.</p><p class="p1">Spalt and Moore added 7 points apiece for the Appleknockers, followed by Cohen 3 and Russell 1.</p><p class="p1">The Appleknockers led 14-11 after one quarter and 20-18 at the half. Cobden led 26-24 at the end of three periods and outscored the Meteors 8-4 in the final period stanza to hang on for the win.</p><p class="p1"> Earlier in the tournament, Cobden defeated Egyptian 84-46, before losing to New Athens 64-40.</p>
