Cobden softball team posts 1-2 record
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The Cobden High Schol softball team posted a 1-2 record in recent action.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher 6, Cobden 4:</strong> Molly Ellis was 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the visiting Appleknockers in the loss Friday, April 24.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Keileigh Britt was 2-for-4 with a double. Makynzie Peterman and Brooke Bailey were each 1-for-2 with an RBI apiece. Josi Braden was 1-for-3.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Carley Washer was the losing pitcher, scattering 9 hits to go with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Cobden 12, Egyptian 0:</strong> Ellis fired a one-hitter to lead the visiting Appleknockers to the South Egyptian Conference win Thursday, April 23. She recorded 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Bailey was 3-for-4 with 2 stolen bases to lead Cobden. Meredith Flamm was 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Alaina Hartline was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Washer was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Braden was 1-for-2. Kaitlin McWhorter was 1-for-4 with a double and 4 RBIs. Britt was 1-for-4 with an RBI.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>Vienna 18, Cobden 4:</strong> Braden was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the host Appleknockers in the conference loss Wednesday, April 22.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Britt was 2-for-4. Bailey was 1-for-2. Washer and Ellis were each 1-for-3. McWhorter was 1-for-4 with an RBI.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Washer was the losing pitcher, scattering 17 hits to go with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Cobden, 7-7, was to have played at home Wednesday against Marion.</span></p>
