Cobden defeats Steeleville in high school baseball action

The Cobden High School baseball team defeated Steeleville but lost to Mundelin in recent action.

Cobden 9, Steeleville 0: Alex Sweitzer tossed a two-hitter to lead host Cobden to the non-conference win Wednesday, March 31.

He had 2 walks and a strikeout.

Aaron Cerny was 1-for-2 with an RBI to lead the Appleknockers.

Steve Draper was 1-for-3. Sweitzer and Daniel Nance were each 1-for-4 with an RBI apiece.

Mundelin 11, Cobden 1: Cerny was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead host Cobden in the loss Monday, March 29.

Draper and Sweitzer were each 1-for-3.

J.C. Chapman, Blake Wiggs and Josh Aspen pitched in the loss, combining to scatter 12 hits.

Chapman pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed 10 hits to go with 2 walks and a strikeout. Wiggs pitched an inning and didn’t allow a hit to go with a strikeout. Astin pitched 2 innings and allowed 2 hits to go with 2 walks and a strikeout.
