Cobden 13, Elverado 1

Matt Kohl and Alex Sweitzer were each 2-for-3 with an RBI apiece to lead host Cobden to a 13-1 win over Elverado in the Class 1A Goreville high school baseball regional Monday, May 17.

Robbie Lehr was 1-for-1 with 2 RBIs. Scott Nance was 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs. Blake Wiggs was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

Alan Wilson was 1-for-3. Aaron Cerny and Lonnie Clark had an RBI apiece.

Nance, Steve Draper, and Clark pitched in the win.

Nance pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed 2 hits to go with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Draper pitched 1 1/3 innings and didn’t allow a hit, to go with 4 strikeouts and no walks.

Clark pitched an inning and didn’t allow a hit.

Cobden 10-8, is scheduled to play Thursday, today, against Crab Orchard at Goreville.

Goreville was to have played Trico Wednesday.

The championship is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Goreville.
