Car show, yard sales set in Cobden

The Village of Cobden is expected to be a busy place Saturday, Oct. 6.

A car show, a community yard sale day, special hours at a local museum and a book signing are planned Saturday.

Fall Fest Car Show

A Fall Fest Car Show is planned Saturday, Oct. 6, in the park in downtown Cobden.

Southern Counties Autos Unlimited plans to sponsor a nonjudged car show featuring a variety of models of vehicles.

The event is scheduled to begin at noon and will continue into the evening.

The day will feature food, music, games, a charity fundraiser and other activities.

Community Yard Sale Day

The Village of Cobden is planning to sponsor a fall community yard sale day on Saturday.

Yard sales will be held throughout the community.

Yard sale maps will be available at village hall on Maple Street starting at 7 a.m. Saturday.

Museum Special Hours

The Union County Museum on South Appleknocker in downtown Cobden plans to have special hours during the car show.

The museum and its resale shop are scheduled to be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The museum currently is featuring an exhibit about fossils and minerals. The display has about 100 items, including several rare specimens.

Book Signing

The Union County Museum also plans to host a book signing with Anna author Mike Estel on Saturday.

The book signing is planned from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Estel will be signing copies of his latest book, "Friends, Comrades, Warriors." The book is a work of historical fiction which is set during the Civil War.

Other Attractions

Cobden also is home to a number of other unique shops and restaurants, which are scheduled to be open on Saturday.

A list of activities and other places to visit in the Cobden area will be available at the Union County Museum and at most of the local businesses.
