Ball tournament, home run derby planned to support Cobden woman with cancer
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">A baseball and softball tournament, along with a home run derby, are being planned Saturday, July 25, at Cobden School. The rain date for the event is scheduled Aug. 1.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The events, billed as “Strike Out Cancer with Andria,” are being held to support Andria Chapman of Cobden. </span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The day’s activities are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. with a round robin baseball and softball tournament. A home run derby is planned at midday. The day also is scheduled to feature raffles, a silent auction, food, t-shirts and more.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Andria is married and has two children. She was diagnosed with a rare form of advanced metasticized ovarian cancer. She will be traveling back and forth to The Cancer Center of America in Zion, which is near Chicago.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">Organizers of the July 25 events are working to raise funds to help with the cost of travel, for medical expenses and for the loss of employment during treatment.</span></p><p class="p1"><span class="s1">The team donation entry fee is $275.
