Avon Merle Stark

<strong>Mr. Avon Merle Stark, age 93 of Festus, Missouri, formerly of Southern Illinois, departed this earthly life at 6:03 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Festus, Missouri. He was born February 20, 1920 near Rantoul IL, the son of Roy and Nancy Hammer Stark.</strong>

<strong>         Avon is survived by his brother, Harold (Jean) Stark of West Peoria; sever nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Charles, Roy and infant brother.</strong>

<strong>         Avon accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and became a member of the Reynoldsville Baptist Church, where he kept his membership.</strong>

<strong>         He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the U.S. Berrien in the South Pacific. He then returned to Southern Illinois for a time before settling on a career at General Motors in St. Louis, MO. After retirement, Avon spent most of his time reading and studying the Bible, which was his main focus throughout his life.</strong>

<strong>         Funeral services for Mr. Avon Merle Stark will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. and until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Reynoldsville Baptist Church, the Salvation Army or AmHeart Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.</strong>
