Ava Ray

Ava Ray, 91, of Anna, died at 8:47 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 in the Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born Oct. 28, 1923 in Jonesboro, the daughter of Ernie and Jewel (Howe) Tweedy. She married Jack Ray on Aug. 12, 1940 in Jonesboro. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2008.

She is survived by her son, Rodney Ray of Anna; three grandchildren, Kirk Leo Ray, Kent (Kitisha) Ray, and Rhonda Ray; one great grandson, Damon Ray; two sisters, Charity Swink of Nashville, Tennessee, and Faith Harris of Noble, Illinois; one brother, Steve (Roxanne) Tweedy of Florida; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Ray; and grandson, Karl Lee Ray.

She was retired from the Florshiem Shoe Company in Anna.

Funeral services will be held privately for the family. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery.
