<p class="p1">The Lick Creek Lady Eagles basketball team won a SIJHSAA Region 1 basketball championship on Friday, Jan. 16, at Cypress Elementary School. Lick Creek team members are, in the first row, from left, Angel Helm, Ashley Barringer, Brenley Barringer, Sydney Heath, Jenna Holshouser and Maggie Cripps. In the second row are Julia Hall, Campbell Belcher, Kyleigh Matuszewich, Hannah Miller, Addison Denny, Erin Overstreet, Kalynn Grant, Cori Turner and head coach Michele Rushing. </p>

My goodness, those poor people. Though I'm sure thousands of children are excited to be out of school for weeks, many parents and other people in the Northeast are preparing and worrying about the several inches and even feet of snow that are coming their way.

When I was younger, snow was so exciting. We got to sled, build a fire, drink hot chocolate and maybe get out of school the next day. 

Doris Beckley, 86, of Anna, died at 11:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at her home. She was born Oct. 17, 1928.

She is survived by her family and friends at Independent Living Services and Holly Hill.

Memorial services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Susan Middleton officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.
