Barbara Kay Goforth, 74, of Jonesboro, died at 5:55 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Jonesboro Rehab and Care Center.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1938, in Cairo, the daughter of Byron L. and Laura Maude Brookins Connell Sr.
She married Charles W. Goforth on May 26, 1957, in Mounds.

As I come to the end of my service in the United States Congress and begin a new chapter in my life, I want to publicly thank my family, my constituents and my staff for the support that they have given me over the last 24 years.
Hall of Fame basketball coach
Ken Trickey, a graduate of Cairo High School who went on to become a legendary college basketball coach, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 4. He was 79. Mr. Trickey died at his home in Tulsa, Okla.
Mr. Trickey had served as head coach of the men's basketball team at Oral Roberts University, at ORU, in Tulsa.
The media relations department at ORU shared the followed information about Mr. Trickey:
<strong>Margaret Cain, 86, of Tamms, died on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2:50PM at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
</strong>
<strong>She was born on January 8, 1926 in Union County the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Messamore) Brown. She married Ed Cain on January 13, 1944, he preceded her in death on August 18, 1987.
</strong>
<strong>She loved sewing and gardening. Margaret was a member of Alexander Free Will Baptist Church.</strong>
Don Denny, a veteran member of the Union County Board of Commissioners, was elected as chairman of the group at its reorganization meeting Friday morning, Dec. 14.
The meeting was at the community center in Jonesboro.
Richard Cunningham, a newcomer to the board, was chosen as vice chairman.
The meeting was the first for three newly elected members: Cunningham, Danny Hartline and Max Miller.
They join Denny and Dale Russell on the board, which expanded from three to five members.
Roy I. Glasco, 90, of Cobden, died at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Funeral arrangements were pending at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden.
<strong>Mr.</strong> <strong>Gary Louis Orlandini, born March 12, 1948 in LaSalle, Illinois passed on from this world in the early hours of Tuesday, December 11, 2012 with his loving wife Noella, daughter Karen Beth, and vineyard dog, Vinnie by his side.</strong>

<strong>Mrs. Margaretha “Margaret” Jerolds, 81 of Anna, passed away at 2:05 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Anna Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born December 13, 1930 in Biebergemund, Germany, the daughter of Heinrich and Maria Krebs Reitz. She married James R. Jerolds on April 10, 1957 in Fulda, Germany. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1996.</strong>
