Appleknocker baseball team featured in movie
<p class="p1">A movie about the 2015 Cobden High School Appleknocker baseball team’s journey to the state championship is scheduled to be shown Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at StarView Vineyards near Cobden.</p><p class="p1">Dane Spalt of Cobden created the movie, with the help of his son Logan Spalt, a member of the Appleknocker baseball team, along with other parents and team members.</p><p class="p1">The movie gives a behind-the-scenes look at the journey the Appleknockers took to achieve the state championship title.</p><p class="p1">Some scenes include players relaxing and going out to eat in their down time and the games and welcome home parade.</p><p class="p1">There are also clips from newscasts and newspapers, including The Gazette-Democrat, of the team in the news. The movie is about an hour long.</p><p class="p1">Spalt creates movies as a hobby. In the past, he has filmed weddings and special events for Cobden School District 17.</p><p class="p1">“It’s fun to relive the whole experience,” Spalt said. “I tried to recreate the feeling of excitement.”</p>
