Alton “Al” Mansfield

Alton “Al” Mansfield, 66, of Metropolis, died at 4:01 a.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at the Massac County Hospital in Metropolis. Al was born on April 10, 1948 in Elkins, West Virginia, the son of Alton “AJ” and Opal Elaine (Huelson) Mansfield. He was united in marriage to Peggy Holloway on Jan. 6, 2003 in Metropolis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Mansfield of Metropolis; his mother, Opal Elaine Mansfield of Anna; his children, Michael (Tina) Mansfield of Laramie, Wyoming; Hayley (Matt) Strauss of Green River, Wyoming; Michelle (Tony) Hager of Casper, Wyoming; Holly (Coltin) Blau of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two stepsons, Heath (Des) Williams of Roosevelt, Utah and Scott Williams of San Diego, California; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Joe (Trish) Mansfield of Green River, Wyoming and Tommy (Pauline) Mansfield of Metropolis; two sisters, Wanda (Jim) Honey of Anna; Donna Thompson of Cobden; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Harold Mansfield.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Shriners and also a Mason. Al was the co-owner of the Frank-Farmer Chevrolet Dealership.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Rev. Bob Richardson officiating. Masonic rites were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project. Memorial envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
