6 words a concern

To the editor,

 I would like an explanation of the following last "6 words" in a written statement the Illinois General Assembly proposes to submit to voters of State of Illinois at large for approval by referendum at the General Election to be held Nov 6th, 2012.

It states as follows: "To secure and preserve the benefits of marriage for our society and for future generations of children, the union of one man and one woman in marriage shall be the only agreement recognized as a marriage or similar union for any purpose"?

The first half is plain and understandable, then we see 6 words stating "or similar union for any purpose."

What does similar union mean? What will those words allow to happen?

Politicians and General Public read carefully what you're being asked to vote for and be sure you understand what the words are implying.

Those 6 words could open a Pandora's box if a true meaning is not explained in writing.

So far no one has been able to explain what or why those 6 words are added to an otherwise clear statement.

Politicians now is a great time to show public how much you know about the laws of Illinois both old and proposed.
