105 young people register for annual Sports Speed Development, Basketball 101 Camp
<p class="p1">Coach Ron’s 2015 Sports Speed Development and Basketball 101 Camp was held at Jonesboro Grade School on June 22-25.</p><p class="p1">One hundred five campers registered for the four-day event with an average attendance of 95.</p><p class="p1">The campers’ ages ranged from incoming 2nd graders to outgoing 8th graders.</p><p class="p1">The camp was divided into three sessions: 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.</p><p class="p1">Each session had enrollments of 25 to 30 campers. Each session was then divided into groups of two.</p><p class="p1">Three time Olympian Willie Smith worked with speed and quickness development.</p><p class="p1">Coach Ron Fulenwider worked with basketball fundamentals as well as an assortment of reaction and quickness drills.</p><p class="p1">Each coach spent 45 minutes with their area of activities and then switched groups.</p><p class="p1">The activities improved reactions, quicker movements, effective directional changes and refined mechanics.
