Union County students named State Scholars

Students from each of Union County's four high schools have been honored as Illinois State Scholars.

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission, ISAC, announced the names of the State Scholars on its website.

The State Scholar program recognizes students at Illinois high schools for outstanding academic achievement.

State Scholar designation provides honorary recognition with no monetary award.

Approximately the top 10 percent of graduates from approved high schools are announced as State Scholars each year.

Union County area students honored as State Scholars are named below by school:

Anna-Jonesboro Community High School

Emma Basler, Lauren Goins, Erin Gould, Mason Hayward, Cortni Hicks, Andrew McMahan, Sarah Placek, Marissa Roath, Jessica Stone, Alyssa Tripp.

Cobden High School

Jonathan Pearl, Rebekah Russell, Austin Travelstead.

Dongola High School

Mark Collins Jr., Austin Hinkle.

Shawnee High School, Wolf Lake

Elena Houston, Haley Murphy, Jessie Reynolds.
