A-J/Cobden co-op soccer tops Massac
The Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden co-op boys’ soccer team split in recent action.
Carbondale 2, A-J/Cobden 0: Jacob Schaefer played 80 minutes in goal and had 9 saves in the loss for the visitors Thursday, Oct. 4.
A-J 4, Massac County 1: Nicholas Bussy, Blake Pena, Christian Valencia and Ethan Carver had a goal apiece to lead the visitors to the win Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Romeo Godinez, Juan Valencia and Noah McFarland each had an assist apiece.
Schaefer played 80 minutes in goal and had 3 saves.
The A-J/Cobden junior varsity team beat the visiting Pinckneyvile junior varsity team 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
A-J/Cobden, 8-9-1, is scheduled to play Friday at home against Saxony Lutheran of Jackson, Mo.
The team is then scheduled to play Centralia in the Class 2A regional’s first round at Carbondale on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
