A-JCHS track athletes among area’s standouts

Anna-Jonesboro Community High School’s Hannah Reach was the area’s top pole vaulter in the girls’ final prep track honor roll which was posted by The Southern Illinoisan newspaper.

Reach topped 10-0 for the best mark from throughout the area.

A-J teammate Brooke Miller finished in 5th place in the 300-meter low hurdles in 49.9, 8th place in the 800-meter run with 2:28.51, 9th place in the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.7 and 11th place in the triple jump with 31-2.

A-J’s Jamie Hammond finished in 3rd place in the high jump with 5-2.

A-J’s 4x400-meter relay team of Brayden Fitzgerald-Deemer, Heidi Mitchell, Hammond and Angel Helm finished in 8th place with a 4:24.4 finish.

In boys’ track, Izzy Markovic and Noah Conner led the way for A-J in the high jump with 3rd place ties of 6-4; Trenton Turner in the discus with a 7th place toss of 149-9; and Alec Gold in the 100-meter dash with an 8th place finish of 11.2.
